The reality

Does any of this sound familiar?

01

Your manager says, "Let's have a conversation," and you immediately start wondering what you did wrong.

02

You rewrite an email several times because you're worried about how your tone will come across.

03

You have something to contribute in a meeting but aren't sure when to speak, or whether what you want to say is good enough.

04

You're doing good work, but somehow other people seem to get noticed more.

05

You don't know how to disagree with someone senior without sounding disrespectful.

06

Sometimes, it feels like everyone else understands how work operates while you're learning through mistakes.

If any of this sounds familiar, Corporate Basics: The Career Accelerator was created for you.

Your early career is where your professional habits begin to compound.

How you communicate, manage expectations, respond to feedback, build relationships and approach your work now can shape the reputation you build over time.

The difference these skills can make

  • You communicate with your manager with greater confidence and clarity.
  • You make your contributions visible without feeling like you're showing off.
  • You build a reputation for being capable, dependable, and ready for greater responsibility.
  • You handle feedback, mistakes, and difficult conversations more effectively.
  • You build stronger professional relationships before you need them.
  • You develop the judgement to read workplace situations and respond appropriately.
  • And when opportunities come up, you have the credibility and visibility to be considered for them.

These are skills you'll use long after the programme ends.

This is more than a Saturday class

Early participants

What early participants are saying

Before launching Corporate Basics, these ideas were tested with early-career professionals through a pilot programme. Here's what they had to say.

"I'd call it an experience because it was far more than just a class. I now understand the importance of things I used to avoid at work."

Pilot Participant 1

"Thank you for such a mind-shifting session. I left with practical action steps I'll begin implementing immediately."

Pilot Participant 2

"I learnt to see office politics not as something to fear, but as something to understand and navigate wisely."

Pilot Participant 3

"One of my biggest takeaways was understanding where power lies in organisations and how to build the right alliances professionally."

Ameze Obaseki
Meet the founder

I didn't create Corporate Basics because I had work figured out from day one. I created it partly because I didn't.

I started my career at Nigerian Breweries and went on to gain experience across organisations including EY and Deloitte. Along the way, I learnt that doing good work was only one part of succeeding professionally.

I also had to learn how to communicate with different managers, navigate workplace dynamics, build relationships, make my contributions visible, and understand expectations that were rarely written down.

Today, my work sits at the intersection of strategy, organisational development, and workplace culture. Corporate Basics brings together lessons from my own career, my work with people and organisations, and the patterns I've seen hold talented professionals back so you don't have to figure everything out the hard way.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Corporate Basics for?

Corporate Basics is designed primarily for professionals in their first 1–3 years of work. If you have more experience but still feel you have gaps in navigating the workplace, you're also welcome to join.

When does the programme happen?

The main live intensive takes place on Saturday, 19 September 2026. You'll complete your assessment and pre-work before the session, apply what you've learnt during the following workweek, and join a live Application Lab later that week.

What is the Application Lab?

The Application Lab is not another teaching session. It's a live space to discuss what you tried at work, what happened, where you got stuck, practise real scenarios, and get guidance on questions that came up during implementation.

Is this theoretical?

No. Corporate Basics is built around practical workplace situations, frameworks, exercises, and real-world application.

Will the live intensive be recorded?

Yes. You'll receive access to the recording so you can revisit what you've learnt.

I'm naturally shy or introverted. Is this still for me?

Absolutely. Corporate Basics isn't about becoming the loudest person in the room. It's about learning how to communicate, build credibility, navigate relationships, and grow professionally in a way that still feels authentic to you.

Corporate Basics

You don't have to learn every workplace lesson the hard way.

Build the judgement, communication skills, relationships, and professional reputation that can serve you throughout your career.
